CEDAR and Qatar Airways Strategic Collaboration Bring Benefits to ODELA Members

SME Bank’s customers who have registered with the ODELA Digital Platform managed by the Centre for Entrepreneur Development and Research Sdn. Bhd. or CEDAR, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SME Bank, have the opportunity to earn 5,000 Qrewards points from Qatar Airways as a result of a recent strategic collaboration between CEDAR and Qatar Airways.

CEDAR’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sofian Zubir said, “The collaboration between CEDAR and Qatar Airways is part of our beyond financing assistance. ODELA is one of the initiatives to help SME entrepreneurs further expand their business network digitally. In addition, ODELA members will also have access to business financing and analysis to help them plan their business development.”

Mohd Sofian added, “This collaboration with Qatar Airways will enable SME Bank’s customers registered with ODELA to receive Qrewards points after they registered as members of Qatar Airways Beyond Business through the ODELA platform. The points can be used to redeem flight tickets and other facilities provided by Qatar Airways.”

“The strategic collaboration between Qatar Airways with CEDAR and SME Bank is one of the steps taken by Qatar Airways to help develop the ecosystem for the small and medium businesses in Malaysia by connecting them to foreign countries such as Europe, Africa, America and the Middle East. Qatar Airways flies twice a day from Kuala Lumpur to more than 120 destinations worldwide,” said Qatar Airways ASEAN Regional Manager, Dato’ Muzammil Mohamad.

ODELA is one of the applications under the National SME Digital Platform which is an initiative by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) and is under the supervision of SME Bank. The development of this National SME Digital Platform is part of SME Bank's two-year Digital Transformation Plan which began at the end of 2018.

ODELA is an e-commerce platform that connects business-to-business (B2B). Since its launching on 3 December 2019, ODELA has successfully recorded transactions amounting more than RM4.6 million and a total of 848 products and services have been listed in the ODELA platform.
