Mr. Muthafa bin Yusof was appointed as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of SME Bank on 1 May 2017. He holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the National University of Malaysia, Diploma in Public Administration and Diploma in Management Science from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) and Masters in Engineering and Manufacturing Management from Coventry University, United Kingdom. He joined the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1984 and had served in the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).

Mr. Muthafa is currently the Senior Director of Bumiputera Entrepreneurship and SME Division, MITI. Prior to this appointment, he has served in various capacities at the Ministry which include the Strategic Trade Controller, key member of Malaysian negotiating team for various Free Trade Agreements, Director of the Secretariat to Special Task Force for improving government delivery system (PEMUDAH) as well as the Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the Malaysia High Commission in New Delhi, India. He also sits on the board of the State Development Corporation Negeri Sembilan and Committee member of Teras Strategic Committee, Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (TERAJU) and Halal Professional Council.
